Errore numero Quattordici - IN - TRA

Consider this sentence:

I’ll have the test in a month:

Ho l’esame tra un mese

The wrong translation is:

Ho l’esame in un mese

This is a mistake that, like a virus, I find very difficult to eradicate, especially at lower levels. However much I try, it seems that it is hard-wired in an foreign, and particulary English speaker’s mind, to say IN instead of TRA, therefore translating literally from English. But you shouldn’t be translating literally, you should be using TRA or FRA in these kind of sentences:

I'll go in a month

Vado
tra un mese

We'll finish in a week

Finiamo
tra una settimana
